Whither a walker.

by Jean Angus on August 13th, 2006

Evenflo Exersaucer UltraI bought an Evenflo Exersaucer for the new baby over the weekend. It was on sale, so it was the perfect opportunity to get a new one to replace Alison’s third-hand one, which I sold cheaply after she outgrew it.

An exersaucer is a good compromise if safety is your primary concern, since it doesn’t allow the baby to go anywhere but round and round and up and down. Adjust the height according to your kid’s so he doesn’t tiptoe in it, and don’t put bubba in too early. Alison walked at 11 months and doesn’t have pigeon-toe, so I’m comfortable with my choice.

In case you’ve been regaled with tales of how dangerous baby walkers can be or how they are a sanity saver, here are some websites to give you the full story:

Exersaucers are the best. Our kids freaked out on those things before they could move on their own. We were shocked at how crazily they bounced. Another perk of the exersaucer over the walkers is there is less chance of them running over the cat.
