Long may it last!

by Jean Angus on August 22nd, 2006

I think I’ve died and gone to heaven. For about the second or third night in a row, Alison has gone to bed before 10pm!!! When she used to sleep at half 11!!! I must have done something good to deserve this, especially since I have had to wait for her to fall asleep almost every night for the last four years. Please God let it continue and be routine not rarity. Thank you.

[…] I ordered a chocolate banana cake from Awfully Chocolate, which by the way has excellent service, and we didn’t even cut it yesterday. We waited till this morning because K had guitar lessons and I had to go buy groceries and Alison was asleep when we got home. Got a bit peeved this morning because no one seemed to want to cut the cake that Jean had bought. Alison was busy watching Cartoon Network and K was zonked from working through the night. But eventually we did. […]

Holy cow. I must remember when my kids do the occassional crazy bad kid things that at least they do the going to bed thing well.

Congrats, but how old is she? 4? yikes, my (just turned) 4 year old is in bed at 7:30 and usually asleep by 8pm. On the odd occasion we might let him stay up till 8:30, but he usually falls asleep before then. We’ve been druming this routine into him though ever since he went off solids, so I suppose practice makes perfect.

Mike - It’s a bedtime story, then prayer followed by a bottle and sleep. Unfortunately the sleep part of it usually takes a while to happen! I have tried all ways to train her but she just wouldn’t do it the way I want, up until now. She’s always been a headstrong one.

Duncan - Lucky you. I used to work full-time and get home late at night, so she adjusted her sleep routine to have some time with us before going to bed. By the time I started working from home, the routine was firmly fixed.

[…] After reading a couple blogs where people mention their childrens’ bad sleeping habits, and after needing to get Pookie back to sleep after he decided to start reciting TV shows at 1am last night, I decided that I should talk about how to get kids to sleep. […]

My 4 year old will not sleep in his bed! We bought that bed 2 years ago and he has never wanted to sleep in it. He falls asleep in minutes if he gets in my bed or lays on the couch but if I try to get him to sleep in his bed I usually end up fighting with him for hours. Any suggestions?
