WAHM Issues
If you are a mom, you are working, but those of us who work from home in addition to mommy-ing face different issues than other moms (not more difficult, just different ::breathe ladies::). As I was shuffling my kids to school this morning, yelling at them to hurry up ::insert pang of regret here::, I was reflecting on just this.
Last week I asked a few of my favorite mommies to give me some insight on their WAHM issues, and they’ve thankfully done so. I hope it warms your heart to know you’re not alone (though it may, conversely give you no hope LOL). We’re all dealing with life, just barely sometimes, and I want you to know that we’re all struggling. Please email me if you want to take part in this challenge with us. Our next topic in the WAHM’s Carnival is Keeping Little Hands Out of Your Stuff. Until then, enjoy WAHM Issues
Brianne reminds us that pregnant mommies have special concerns. Will she work from home after the baby?
Becky reminds us how hard it can be to go shopping alone when you’re used to constant companions, and why it’s important to sometimes focus on ourselves.
Patty details the issues WAHMs face, especially those of us who work more than one hour here and there. Lengthy, but rich, gals.
Kelly talks about working outside of the home AND inside the home. She’s a busy woman with a part-time job in a Hospital and a part-time job writing.
Shannon, who blogs on WAHMs everyday, offers up her entire blog for perusal. Girls there’s gold in them thar’ hills, so enjoy picking through her rich site.

Thanks, Robyn for including me. Working from home part time is challenging because you feel torn in many different directions. My advice is to make sure you get a room all to yourself. If I had to look at the laundry piling up, I would feel guilty about sitting and working on my laptop. I would want to clean my house. That is why I lov egoing to the coffee shop and use their wifi. I get so much more done.

I can’t stand WAH! I find myself to be a control freak staying at home hovering over the nanny. So, I always go to the office when I can. WAHM just doesn’t work for me.

I like to escape the house, but when I can’t I make myself NOT clean. It’s tough, but when I clean I don’t work and when I don’t work I don’t make money LOL

I have been working from home for 10 years. My kids are now 10, 8, and 4.5. It has been a juggle and sometimes a struggle, but I am now at an income level that I could not easily attain working for someone else. I would not trade the opportunity to work from home for anything. And clean? Are you kidding? I don’t get paid to do the laundry, but I get paid to work online. Although it is regular practice for me to send a document to print or a set of files to upload and while that is happening I throw the dishes in the dishwasher or move laundry.

That’s what I do too Char. I might throw in a load of laundry in between a computer restart or something, but that’s about it. Anything more and I’m not going to get anything done.
I clean in the afternoons.

I’ve been working from home for several years and I always claim that I’m a “Mostly-Sane Mom”. Some days, I’m lucky to even call myself that!
Speaking of laundry, I’d better start another load! ;)

Ugh, I know. I’ve gotta leave the coffee shop now and go home to wash uniforms. :(

I’m WAH today and can’t stop hovering over my nanny. I guess I’m a control freak. I also wonder what careers most of the WAHMs are in- anyone? Do certain careers lend themselves more to WAH?
