Cloth Wipes Are Cost Savers

by robyn on October 18th, 2006

We all know cloth diapers and wipes are frugal, but they’re ever so soft and fluffy too. When my older daughters were little we used cloth exclusively. After the third baby, I kinda threw in the towel, so to speak, but when I read this today it brought back sweet memories:

My solution is warm tap water with a squirt of baby oil or babybath. I have a small container for my diaper bag and pack this before I go to cut down on possible molding, and then I have a medium one for the changing table. I also keep a squirt bottle filled with the solution and extra dry ‘wipes’ nearby, just in case.

To avoid mildew, try lavender and tea tree (10 drops each per gallon of distilled water) and a squirt of baby shampoo. Those suckers will sit in your hot car for months before you see any mold/mildew. Essential oils are amazing.

We actually sold this solution for $7.50 back when I ran the cloth diaper business. Nothing cuts poopy odor like sweet smelling lavender and astringent-ist tea tree. You’d be amazed…
