Organizing Your Holiday Cooking
For years we’ve simply ‘winged’ our holiday cooking, but for the last two I’ve begun taking a more organized approach.
I plan a few things that I can cook ahead a few days (rice, deviled eggs, homemade bread, cranberry sauce), and then I cook the turkey and the incidentals (dressing, macaroni and cheese and whipped potatoes) the day of. However, I prep the ingredients (chopping, softening butter, etc) well ahead of time.
I have a notebook that I created a few years ago that I keep in the same tucked away area (read attic) that holds my christmas magazines (note below). I use the notebook to remember all those little things, and I update it with any notes each year.
I can’t believe I’m old enough to make use of tips like this. Where did the time go?
Note: Remember they just recycle the same ideas and stories each christmas so there’s no need to buy new magazines each year.
