Inside Motherhood

Sometimes it’s the simple things!

by Sherry on February 11th, 2008

flashlightWe, like many families, have a ton of toys. We have all sorts of dolls, from Barbies to babies. We have My Little Pony collections. We have wild animals, farm animals, toy food, tea party sets, and a variety of licensed toys like Dora, Diego, and the like. They get played with, but like many others have frequently noted, it’s the random things that you don’t expect which end up being a big hit.

For instance, right now I am going on 20 minutes of enjoying relative peace and quiet (aside from screams of fun, that is). Why? Because my husband went to the Dollar Store to get Valentine cards for our oldest’s classmates and while he was there he picked up two mini flashlights, one for each of the girls.

Right at this moment, they’re both in the bathroom, since it has no window and thus no light whatsoever when you turn the lights off. They’ve closed the door and they’re in there playing with the flashlights, laughing and shrieking and having a grand old time.

With two non-toys that cost a total of two bucks plus tax.

Why do we buy toys again?!
