Make them sleep
How to get your five-year-old and your two-year-old to fall asleep insanely quickly and easily:
1. Bundle them up in snowsuits.
2. Take them to a huge nature park.
3. Make sure you do this the day after a large snowfall.
4. Park your car in the only available lot.
5. Discover you were stuck parking at the complete opposite end of the park from where the sledding hills are.
6. Walk.
7. Walk.
8. Walk.
9. Climb up a bunch of stairs to the top of the hill.
10. Wait in line.
11. Laugh crazily as you slide down the hill.
12. Repeat steps 9 through 11 so many times you can’t count them.
13. Repeat again on different hills.
14. Realize everyone is thirsty.
15. Realize the restaurant chalet is back near the parking lot.
16. Walk.
17. Walk.
18. Walk.
19. Get a drink.
20. Walk to the car.
21. Stop at McDonald’s because Mom and Dad the kids are starving.
22. Wolf down crappy but tasty food.
23. Let the kids play in the McPlayLand on the slides for half an hour.
24. Come home.
25. Do bath, snack, and pajamas.
26. Stare in amazement as they both fall asleep in under seven minutes flat.
27. Put your feet up and relax.

Great post! Love the list. Unfortunately, what would happen in my family when my guys were that young, was they would fall asleep in the car (read: power nap) and be totally recharged by the time we got home. Or worse, they will have gotten just enough sleep to be awake, but not quite enough so they’d be wicked, wicked cranky.
Loved the post though. Brought back lots of memories.
