Student-led conference

by Sherry on April 1st, 2008

I’m so excited about Thursday evening. My daughter’s school is having student-led conferences in their classrooms anytime between 5:30 and 8:30 pm. Basically, you go whenever you want (due to her age, we’ll go earlier rather than later so she isn’t up too late), and the conference lasts about 20-30 minutes. It sounds, from the description on the notice we got, as though basically your child demonstrates some of the things they do day to day and things they have learned. Apparently it’s completely done bu the students, not the teachers, though I expect that the Kindergarten kids might need a little assistance.

I’ve already volunteered in the classroom once before and loved seeing my daughter in that environment, and I’m constantly amazed by the things she’s learning - reading, writing, science. I am really excited about seeing her in this conference to see what it’s all about and hear what she has to say in a classroom environment to us.
