Running out of time
It occurred to me today, as I sent my daughter off to school, that she only has 15 days left until summer vacation starts up. While I’m looking forward to it (mostly because I can stop getting up at 6:30 every week day morning!), I suddenly realized that now I need to start thinking ahead and figuring out a schedule for our days. I don’t want the planning to be rigid and jam-packed. I’d like to keep things simple and enjoyable. I also work from home and that still needs to be accounted into the day - while I can (and often do) work in the evenings as well, I simply can’t do it all at night, some of it must be done during the day. I’m hoping to maybe play with them outside in the mornings and do some work in the afternoon when the sun is its hottest.

We’re also planning on visiting a special children’s museum in our general area (one where kids are actually encouraged to touch and play with stuff, unlike your typical museum), a science museum in Ottawa that has dinosaur stuff, a little camping, and hopefully some swimming before the lakes start getting too icky. My oldest is also in soccer, and once school ends they start playing two evenings per week, so that’s something to look forward to as well - first game of the season is tonight!
Of course, there are also the inevitable rainy days and just plain too-hot-to-go-out days which will mean breaking out the modeling clay, the finger paints, and the craft box.

The girls get out today and we’re sadly limited on outdoor activities because of the heat. I have a feeling we’ll be spending a lot of time at the library (not a bad thing but not a lot to be done there either!).
