Gearing up for school

I realized on Saturday that I have exactly one month to get ready for my oldest going back to school. She starts September 2nd and while that’s still far away, sort of, there’s more to buy than last year when she was in Kindergarten.

She has gazelle legs so while her shirts all fit, she needs new pants, a tunic, and a skirt for her dress code (she can wear any of the three but she likes having a tunic and skirt as well), socks and tights to go with them, a new school bag because her old one is small, and a new lunch bag.

On top of that we have a long list of very precise school supplies. They’ve specified no Dollar Store crayons or pencils. I get that, their crayons are cheap but they also don’t work that well. I don’t mind that, but there are specific types of notebooks and folders and for some reason they need four pencil sharpeners (?? I’m still trying to figure out if that’s a typo and might just buy one to start, because honestly, why would they need four?!), and I’m at a point where I think I’m walking into the office supply store, flagging down the first employee I can see and just handing them the list. I’ll follow them around the store and let them help me find everything instead of trying to read the numeric labels of ten different types of duotangs for the right one.

She also needs gym shorts this year which is new. In Kindergarten they just do gym in their uniforms since they’re a bit slow with getting changed.

So much to do in less than a month!
